Morning Glory
04:15
|
|||
Sit through the same old stories
Repeat the words to get it right
Seen as a morning glory
Violet defense to hide the blight
Stare at the backs of benches
Realize two lips and keep them shut
And when the body clenches
Move up into thoughts with each rebut
But there the questions still remain
And there the choices rest, to stay the same or change
And face the thought of loss and loss of love
Look in the same trusting eyes
Spew pretty lies to seem content
Nightmares and stares from the wise
Inflicting pain without intent
In this- the gnawing, biting state
Where one may sense
Two fragile shoulders bear the constant weight
Until the burden finally breaks off
To find perhaps the truth exists within the open space
If someone can hear
Then why is this emptiness all that I can feel?

Forest Fire
03:36
|
|||
Speechless in the pale
You rest your head, I wait
Night and day wash together
The ebbing of a narrow strait
Cold behind the veil
You offer warmth, I turn
Push and pull on consolation
The slow and patient gentle burn
Bed of needles, leaves of absence
Shadows cover petty crimes
Sins of people’s heated actions
Push it to the line
Desperate in the damp
I drag, you run ahead
Tug of war and muddy concord
The blurring of a broken path to tread
Leaking from the dam
Half-heartedly, we patch
Drenched in what we should have been regretting
Our friction to ignite the final match
Kindling brush to forest fire
Melting off the misty rime
What is now all thorns and brier
Will be cleared with time

Silhouette
03:12
|
|||
Barely breaking even
I get in, you’re leaving
Passing ships and such
Sinking in the rush
Battling the fever
Avoid the receiver
Sending cryptic codes
Looking out the window
Headlights hit the pillow
Took too long to respond
Now the shades are drawn
Too late in the evening
To waste water crying
Too tired for regret
Now all I’m seeing is your silhouette
Hidden undercover
Sedentary lover
Pretending to sleep
Working hard to keep up this
Elongated feign
An exaggerated game
Follow every step
But all I’m seeing is your silhouette
Blank breaths through the swinging screen door
Dead lawn hits the cracked linoleum
No depth; what’s left to adore is
Long gone, we’re here to sweep the crumbs
Clothes hung on the radiator
Soaked in stains and cigarette smoke
Sharp tongues can come out later
Silence is a cleaner way to cope

Passers
03:08
|
|||
You and I are passers In an orbiting path
Guided by celestial suns Our lots have been cast
Through the night
I hear your signals sending
Satellite
Into the void unending
Weaving through the time and space That stands in between
Entropy will have her way And the next time I’m seen
Through your eyes
The journey is to blame, but
We’ll collide
In beauty all the same
Evolved to hold you loose
I can’t hold on for long
But there would be no use
With gravity so strong
Emptiness beyond what we are able to fill
Still I cannot contemplate Significance until
We are one
The pitch will be much clearer
Midnight sun
I'll see it when you’re nearer
Revolving to and fro
I’ve learned to let you go
I know just where we’re bound
When we come back around
